To be honest when Android tablets first made an appearance on the market I thought they were nothing more than another useless gadget, I had my computer and that was all I needed. But then I realised that thanks to the web we have a much easier life than before, for example we can know about our friends all the time thanks to social networks and services. Even if you don’t like that you can benefit from the wonders of technology, previously it was more difficult to locate an address, now you can look it up on Google maps, and there you have it, you can have even complete directions or traffic information. You can make hotel reservations online, buy tickets, etc. Online sources have largely replaced print magazines and newspapers, information is timely.
The problem is that being stuck at the desk for all this wealth of resources is not good, I like to read my favourite news sites and blogs and it would be cool to be able to do it during breakfast or even, ahem.. on the toilet. Impossible with a traditional computer, not even laptops or netbooks allow for this as the input method is awkward and not very intuitive.
That is where Android Tablets come in, thanks to touchscreen technology and much smaller but still powerful processors, and the great and efficient programming by the Android Development team, we can now have the entire Internet literally at our finger tips. Not only that but most of the functionality of a fully featured pc, in a small (but with a large enough screen) to be able to do most of what we do on the PC.
The problem is that this is a relatively recent development and the prices are through the roof, most commercial tablets sell for at least 500 dollars. That is excessively expensive and I wouldn’t pay that much for a gadget that I use mostly to browse the Internet. For that price it is possible to buy a nice gaming console, powerful computer or even an HD TV, blue ray player, etc. I don’t think a tablet is worth that much money.
Fortunately, some manufacturers have realised that you can have the best of both worlds and have a quite good tablet, with all the features that you like but only at a fraction of the price of other tablets. Here you can buy an excellent tablet, quite powerful and feature-ridden, with all the advantages of the Android 2.2 operating system for under $200 dollars, nobody can match these prices on the Internet. So have a look perhaps you will like some of our tablets.
